The Truth About America

With our nation’s Independence Day upon us, I wanted to remind us of the fact that God was in the establishing of the United States of America. We have a Godly heritage. Men and women who trusted the Almighty God were the ones who fought and sacrificed to give us our freedom. On this Independence Day let’s take time to thank God for those men & women who gave so much to establish such a great country and the freedoms that we enjoy. Here are just a couple of the incidents that took place during our Revolutionary War.

Romans 8:31. “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”

At the beginning of the Revolutionary War, there were many skirmishes between British troops and Colonial troops. These Colonial troops were known as Minute Men. They would shoot at British troops from behind trees and then run away. England felt that the situation called for reinforcements. In the mind of the British troops and their commanders, was the idea that they were the finest, most powerful, best disciplined troops in the world. Yet a nation’s safety, its triumphants, and failures are all in the hands of Almighty God.

In one battle, after two assaults, the Colonial army was very low on ammunition. After the ammunition ran out, they had to used their bayonets. Those that could, used their rifles as clubs. They were greatly outnumbered and it looked like the British were about to win, they suddenly the British troops withdrew.

In another battle, some amazing things took place. Fort Ticonderoga was a British outpost that had to be taken to secure the safety of New York. When the Colonial troops went to attack it, for some reason, the gates stood open. The guards at the fort tried to fire upon the Colonial troops, but their rifles would not work. The fort was taken without a shot being fired. There were many other times in battle that Colonial troops reported bullets flying by them and not touching them. Even George Washington in one battle had several bullet holes in his coat and yet not a single bullet wound.Only the hand of God could have caused these things to have happened. The same God that was in the beginning of America is the same God that’s in America today. It’s the same God that watches and take care of each one of His believers. If God be for us, who can stand against us.
