Our Worth Through His Eyes – Lindsay Schmidt
July 27, 2018

It happened to me when I was young. The lie crept in and took away my self-belief of who I really was. The devil, he used my friends. I felt worthless. I was a happy kid, don’t get me wrong, but the effects of their words and treatment would turn into anxiety and depression later in my life and effect me in so many aspects of my life. It happens too often to kids, they are the weakest ones and the devil knows that so he spreads the lies like wildfire in their hearts. I came from a good family. One that supported each other. I had parents who loved me and let me know it often. But when you hear the lie so often, you tend to tune out the truth. I look back now and I used to have so much anger towards those kids who claimed to be my friends, but now I realize that they were just a game piece for the devil to use to tear me down. Now I understand. Now I see. Self doubt is one of the biggest lies the enemy can use against us. Making us feel weak and useless is his motive. I was lucky to have a strong family to hold me together and a huge God to show me the truth. But what about those kids who have neither? How do they get back one their feet? Do they get back on their feet? If all your hearing is the self-hate, its hard to dig your way back up. No wonder there is so much pre-teen and teen suicide in this world today.

God brought me out of that lie years ago. It took me getting to my lowest point to turn to God and ask for help. All the years before I was putting my reflection into the wrong hands, the hands of people. I now understand that my reflection needs to be in the only hands that will show me my true beauty. God is the only one I want to show me, me. I want to help anyone who may be feeling the way I felt for years. I want to show you what God says about his creation. The truth about us all and all the beauty that is within us. We can see it in ourselves if we look hard enough and choose to believe it. Let’s loo to the truth. The word of God to see what he says about how precious we are.

1 Peter 3:3-4 (KJV) 3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. Don’t put your worth into what you wear on the outside, let your worth be hidden in your heart.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. The things that we face in this earthly world will all pass away. It will all fade when God comes back for us and will be forgotten. But the things that truly matter, the things that we grow in our hearts and the wisdom we gain will stay with us. Our treasure is in heaven, not in this earth or world.

Genesis 1:27 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. There is no one more perfect than God. He is sinless, and perfect in all his ways. He created us in HIS image. No we aren’t perfect, but we have God in us and can strive to be more like him everyday.

Roman 8:6 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Don’t think on the things of this world, obsess over things that don’t make you a better person or worry about things you can’t change. Like the opinions of other people. Think in the spirit and you will have peace.

Song of Solomon 4:7 7 Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee. God sees us as perfect, though we sin daily, we are his children and he loves us unconditionally.

1 Samuel 16:7 7 But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. Thank the Lord! God doesn’t look on our outward appearance but he sees our heart. I am thankful for that every day.

Proverbs 3:15-18 15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. 16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. 17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her. This is speaking of the Proverbs 31 woman. She is an example to all women on how we should carry ourselves and act. It also tells us that we are more precious than rubies. God believes it. We should believe it.

Revelation 1:6 6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. We are kings and priests in God’s eyes. We are to see ourselves that way.

1 Peter 2:9 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; This is it. It speaks. Of how highly God regards his creation, us. Our worth in Him. In his eyes. This word is not only for women, or men, or children, or teens or any one type or group of people. This word is for everyone. God has so much love for us and believes that we are precious and worthy. It is up to us to relay this message to those we come into contact with. You never know when someone might be dealing with depression or low self-esteem. We need to remind ourselves of our worth every day as well. The devil is waiting for our guard to be down in order to whisper the lie into our ears. If we are ready with the truth in our hearts and minds, his attacks will be powerless. Do not let him take your worth. Our worth lies in the one who created us and that tells me that i am safe from it all. Safe in the hands of my creator. We are kings and priests and more precious than rubies.
