As children, our imaginations flow from one incredible thing to the next. When asked what we want to be when we grow up, there isn’t a limit on what that answer could be for us. An astronaut, a chef, a ballerina, a police officer, a fireman, or a space ballerina who also puts out fires! A child’s mind is untouched, innocent and therefore they believe anything can and will happen. Then, slowly, we begin to grow and we go through experiences the make that untouched, innocent belief that anything can happen dwindle little by little. Life has that effect on us. It takes a beautiful mind with an unmatched imagination and turns it into this scared, safe, unbelieving person who works in a cubicle all their life (no offense to anyone who works in a cubicle). But my question is why? Why do we allow this to happen to ourselves? Do we just simply forget our God and all the beautiful, powerful promises he has made to us? We read of these promises in our bible and we hear of miracles happening in other lives, but do we just not believe that anything can happen for ourselves?
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Remember this verse? 2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. Isaiah 40:29-31 He giveth power to the faint; and to [them that have] no might he increaseth strength. And how about these? God tells us over and over again how much power not only He has but how much power we have in ourselves! WE HAVE POWER IN OURSELVES! The power that God has given to us. Our God is not a god of mediocrity or “good enough.” Our God is THE GOD, the only God, and he is a God of more than enough.
If we could only get back to our childlike mindset of ‘anything is possible’, then we could start living the life of more than enough. When we have a God that is bigger than any probe, any sickness, any struggle, addiction, or situation we have nothing that can or will stop us. We truly can be anything we want to be and do anything we want to do and nothing can stop us as long as we follow God’s lead. Imagine all we can be and do if we followed after a God of more than enough! It is December 7th, 2018 and let me tell you, I WILL NOT wait around until the New Year to walk in a life that is full of power and possibilities. We have Christmas right around the corner, the celebration of the birth of the God of more than enough. My charge to anyone reading this is to start today, start living your childhood life, the one with no boundaries of what God can do and where He can take you. But remember to do your part, don’t think that just because God can, he will even if you refuse to move. Show Him and yourself that you care and you believe in a life of more than enough. Each day choose more. Put away just enough. New Years resolutions never stick, you know they don’t, so start now.
The God of more than enough is waiting for you.
I will leave you with this scripture: Ephesians 1:18-23, The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
He gives us Roots so we can Fly. Roots and Wings.
