I have a simple thought today. Just something to remind us of. Something to keep in our minds daily. See, our lives are made up of days, days that can be bad: wake up and realize your late to work, it’s pouring rain outside and you don’t have an umbrella, you spilled your coffee all over yourself in the car…etc, etc, etc. Those kind of days where nothing seems to be going right and you ask yourself and wonder “what did I do wrong?” Then, we have those days when everything seems to be going your way: wake up out of bed and do one of those slow motion stretches that changes your entire life because it feels so good, you look in the mirror before walking out the door and think “well I look pretty good”, you step outside and the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, you walk into work just a little early and have time to finish up your coffee…etc, etc, etc. Then, there are those days that hit us like a train. The ones that send us into a spiral of questions, why’s? How’s? The days that last years it seems. They leave us in a darkness so thick we don’t know how we will ever see the light of day again. We feel lost. Taken down the rabbit hole into the abyss. Gone forever. But then… the joy comes in the morning (Psalms 30:5).
No matter what kind of day you wake up to. Whatever happens. Whatever you face the night before and whatever you must get through the next day, we must all remember that although weeping may endure for the night, the joy is going to come in the morning. There will be another day. No matter how cloudy your days may be, remember that above those clouds the sun is still shining bright. The same is with our lives. It doesn’t matter what we face in our days, God is always right there with us shining His light. We must open up our eyes and see Him in our situations. He will give to us a peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7). He will surround us with His joy and light, wrap us up in His arms and take us to a place of peace.
The next time we come to a bump in our road of life, whether it be financial, physical, emotional, or spiritual, let us see God there with us in our circumstances. If we can praise God in those moments of hurt and pain and questions, then there is not a day in our lives that can take us down. In the tough moments or days, lift up your eyes and tell God “thank you”. It may be hard to do this but I promise God will not leave you or make you regret those words. Praise Him in the good and the bad. The easy, bright sunshiny days and the dark, cloudy, stormy days. He is there and He deserves our praise. He deserves to be noticed. To be thanked. For my life, for your life. So through your tear soaked face say “I love you Lord”, “Thank you Lord”, “I praise you Lord”.
This is a message I am sure we have all heard before but I found myself the other day feeling down after receiving some news that left me wondering “How?” and after sulking and saying “woe is me!” I realized that God is still in control of my life and I lifted up a praise to the one who knows how. The God who can make a way where there seems to be no way. I say a “Hallelujah!” to Him! I lift up a praise to a more than worthy King.
He gives us Roots so we can Fly. Roots and Wings.
