As humans, we all search for what we need in others. We search for love, acceptance, friendship, leaders, etc. As individuals, we all have something to give. We all have talents, goals, personality types, etc. that can help someone else and ourselves. However, although we all have something to give, we do not have everything. No one has everything that someone else needs. We aren’t God. We cannot give what we do not have. So, in saying all that, because none of us has everything to give and all of us need things from elsewhere, we are all, everyone of us, in need of things.
There are brave people in the world. There are strong people in the world. There are smart people, giving people, loving people. But no one can be everything and do everything. Therefore, in walks God. A God who has it all, has done it all, can do it all, and is everything. If we as humans, God’s creation, had it all, we wouldn’t need a God. But we don’t, so we do.
Let’s take a moment and look at all that God is. He is:
Our Water: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. John 4:14
Our Food: And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. John 6:35
Our Bullet Proof Vest: Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11
Our Doctor: He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. Psalms 147:3
Our Giver: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Matthew 7:7
Our Lover: And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16
Our Listener: For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer. 1 Peter 3:12
Our Guidance: I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. Psalms 32:8
Our Truth: Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:31-32
Our Waymaker: Thus saith the Lord, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; Isaiah 43:16
Our Friend: Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. John 15:15
Our Promise Keeper: For all the promises of God in him [are] yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. 2 Corinthians 1:20
Our teacher: I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. Psalms 32:8
Our Father: One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all, and in you all. Ephesians 4:6
Our Savior: For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11
The point I want to make in the blog for this week is that we should not be looking in ourselves or in others for the things that we need. We will not find them. We may find parts of ourselves or some of the things we need, but we will not be fulfilled by ourselves or others. We can only be truly fulfilled and without want or need with God’s help. He is the only one who can and will do that for us. So if you are feeling empty, or you have something missing in your life, stop looking to the world and the people in it for your answers. Look to God and he will fill the gaps in your life.
He gives us Roots so we can Fly. Roots and Wings.
